Frequently asked questions

Is this sent to Equifax, Experian, or TransUnion?

This version is addressed to the company that supplied the information, such as a creditor or collector. Use the credit report dispute generator for a letter addressed to a reporting company.

Does this dispute the validity of a collection debt?

It challenges credit reporting accuracy. A debt validation request to a collector serves a different purpose.

Must I use the creditor’s payment address?

No. Use the address designated for direct disputes; the payment address may route your letter to the wrong department.
