Frequently asked questions
Can the borrower issue their own confirmation?
Only the creditor or its authorized representative should confirm the creditor’s records. A borrower can ask the creditor for this document.
Does paid in full mean the same as settled?
Not necessarily. This draft confirms the full account balance has been paid. If part of the balance was forgiven under a settlement, use wording that accurately describes that settlement.
Does this remove a collection from my credit report?
No. Payment confirmation does not guarantee deletion. If the reported balance or status is inaccurate, use the appropriate dispute process.
