How far back SoFi statements go
SoFi posts the monthly Checking and Savings statement within the first 5 business days of the following month.
To export transactions instead, log in on sofi.com in a web or mobile browser, open the Banking tab, select the account, click the gear icon, and choose Export Transactions. Each export can cover up to 2 years, back to the day the account opened. Export is not available in the app.
SoFi bank verification letter
SoFi has no branches, so there is no banker who can sign a letter in person. What you can get yourself is your monthly statements, which show your name, the account, and the balance, plus your account and routing numbers in the app.
If someone insists on a formal letter, contact SoFi support and ask what they can provide. Before you do, ask the requester whether your last two or three statements will work instead. Most landlords accept them.
SoFi proof of funds letter
Without branches, proof of funds from SoFi usually means your most recent statement showing the ending balance. Some recipients also accept a bank-connected report that shows current balances.
Check what the recipient will accept before you rely on it for a large purchase. Many title companies and sellers want documents dated within the last 30 to 60 days.
Statement, letter, or income report: which to send
People asking for a SoFi bank statement usually want proof of one of three things: that the account is yours, how much is in it, or how much you earn. Send the document that answers their actual question.
| Document | Where it comes from | What it shows | How fast | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bank statement | You download it | Every transaction and the balance for one month | Minutes | Most rental applications and loan files |
| Bank verification letter | A banker prepares it | That the account exists, its open date, sometimes the balance | Same day to a few business days | Visas, some leases, employers, vendors |
| Proof of funds letter | A banker prepares it | Available balance as of a date | Same day to a few business days | Home purchases, large deposits, investors |
| Bank-connected income report | Built from a read-only bank connection | Recurring deposits, estimated monthly income, balances | About 5 minutes | Showing income without sending every transaction |
Does SoFi work with Plaid?
Yes. SoFi connects to Plaid, the service most budgeting, lending, and income apps use to read bank data. Search for SoFi in the bank list, sign in, and choose which accounts to share. Your login goes to SoFi, not to the app you are connecting, and you may be sent to SoFi’s own sign-in page to approve access.
If a connection fails, it is usually because a security code timed out, and starting again normally fixes it. You can see and remove every app you have connected through Plaid at my.plaid.com.
Sending a SoFi bank statement to a landlord or lender
Send the PDF you downloaded, not screenshots, and send only the months they ask for. Two or three recent statements are typical for a rental application. Lenders often want two full months with every page, including blank ones.
A statement shows every purchase you made that month. If you would rather share a summary, you can connect your SoFi account and create an income report from your bank deposits. It shows recurring deposits and an estimated monthly income, and it comes straight from the bank, so the person reading it does not have to wonder whether a PDF was edited.
Reviewing statements from an applicant? Our bank statement checker walks through the signs of an altered statement, and you can ask applicants to connect their bank instead of uploading files.
SoFi statement FAQ
- When is my SoFi statement available?
- Usually within the first 5 business days of each month.
- Can I download SoFi transactions to Excel?
- Yes, as a CSV from sofi.com in a browser: Banking tab, select the account, gear icon, Export Transactions. Each export covers up to 2 years. It is not available in the app.
- Does SoFi have branches?
- No. SoFi Bank is online only, so documents come from the app or website rather than a banker.
- Will a landlord accept a SoFi statement?
- Usually, yes. Send the downloaded PDF rather than screenshots, and send only the months they ask for. Some landlords now prefer a direct bank connection because PDFs can be edited.
- How do I prove income with a SoFi account?
- Send recent statements that show your deposits, or connect your SoFi account to an income report that summarizes recurring deposits and estimated monthly income instead of every transaction.
