How far back Discover statements go
Discover’s Account Center on discover.com has your current and past statements. The mobile app shows a shorter list of recent transactions, while discover.com shows up to 24 months of transactions under Recent Activity and Statements.
For anything you cannot find online, call Discover customer service.
Discover bank verification letter
Discover has no branches, so there is no banker who can sign a letter in person. What you can get yourself is your monthly statements, which show your name, the account, and the balance, plus your account and routing numbers in the app.
If someone insists on a formal letter, contact Discover support and ask what they can provide. Before you do, ask the requester whether your last two or three statements will work instead. Most landlords accept them.
Discover proof of funds letter
Without branches, proof of funds from Discover usually means your most recent statement showing the ending balance. Some recipients also accept a bank-connected report that shows current balances.
Check what the recipient will accept before you rely on it for a large purchase. Many title companies and sellers want documents dated within the last 30 to 60 days.
Statement, letter, or income report: which to send
People asking for a Discover bank statement usually want proof of one of three things: that the account is yours, how much is in it, or how much you earn. Send the document that answers their actual question.
| Document | Where it comes from | What it shows | How fast | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bank statement | You download it | Every transaction and the balance for one month | Minutes | Most rental applications and loan files |
| Bank verification letter | A banker prepares it | That the account exists, its open date, sometimes the balance | Same day to a few business days | Visas, some leases, employers, vendors |
| Proof of funds letter | A banker prepares it | Available balance as of a date | Same day to a few business days | Home purchases, large deposits, investors |
| Bank-connected income report | Built from a read-only bank connection | Recurring deposits, estimated monthly income, balances | About 5 minutes | Showing income without sending every transaction |
Does Discover work with Plaid?
Yes. Discover connects to Plaid, the service most budgeting, lending, and income apps use to read bank data. Search for Discover in the bank list, sign in, and choose which accounts to share. Your login goes to Discover, not to the app you are connecting, and you may be sent to Discover’s own sign-in page to approve access.
If a connection fails, it is usually because a security code timed out, and starting again normally fixes it. You can see and remove every app you have connected through Plaid at my.plaid.com.
Sending a Discover bank statement to a landlord or lender
Send the PDF you downloaded, not screenshots, and send only the months they ask for. Two or three recent statements are typical for a rental application. Lenders often want two full months with every page, including blank ones.
A statement shows every purchase you made that month. If you would rather share a summary, you can connect your Discover account and create an income report from your bank deposits. It shows recurring deposits and an estimated monthly income, and it comes straight from the bank, so the person reading it does not have to wonder whether a PDF was edited.
Reviewing statements from an applicant? Our bank statement checker walks through the signs of an altered statement, and you can ask applicants to connect their bank instead of uploading files.

- No. Discover Bank accounts are managed online, by app, and by phone.
