How far back Chase statements go

Chase says you can access up to 7 years of statements online, depending on the account type. Statements from before you enrolled in online banking may not show up.

For anything older, or a statement that is missing from the list, send a secure message from the Chase dashboard or call the number on the back of your card and ask for a copy.

Chase bank verification letter

A bank verification letter (sometimes called a bank reference letter) is a short letter on Chase letterhead confirming that you hold an account, when it was opened, and sometimes its balance. Chase does not offer a self-service download for this letter in online banking.

The quickest route is a Chase branch: bring a photo ID and tell the banker exactly what the person asking for the letter needs to see, such as the account open date or the current balance. You can also send a secure message or call customer service, but expect a few business days if the letter has to be mailed.

Before you go, ask the requester whether a recent statement would do. Many landlords and visa offices accept the last two or three statements instead of a letter.

Chase proof of funds letter

A proof of funds letter is a verification letter that focuses on how much money is available, usually for a home purchase, a large deposit, or an investor. Chase prepares these the same way as a verification letter: at a branch or by request through customer service.

Ask for the letter close to the date you need it. Most recipients only accept proof of funds that is 30 to 60 days old or newer. If you want to prepare the letter yourself for the bank or your own records, our free proof of funds letter generator gives you a template to start from.

Statement, letter, or income report: which to send

People asking for a Chase bank statement usually want proof of one of three things: that the account is yours, how much is in it, or how much you earn. Send the document that answers their actual question.

Does Chase work with Plaid?

Yes. Chase connects to Plaid, the service most budgeting, lending, and income apps use to read bank data. When you pick Chase, you are sent to Chase’s own sign-in page to log in and choose which accounts to share. The app never sees your Chase password.

You can review or remove connected apps later in the Chase dashboard under Profile & settings, in the security section for linked apps and websites, or across all banks at my.plaid.com.

Sending a Chase bank statement to a landlord or lender

Send the PDF you downloaded, not screenshots, and send only the months they ask for. Two or three recent statements are typical for a rental application. Lenders often want two full months with every page, including blank ones.

A statement shows every purchase you made that month. If you would rather share a summary, you can connect your Chase account and create an income report from your bank deposits. It shows recurring deposits and an estimated monthly income, and it comes straight from the bank, so the person reading it does not have to wonder whether a PDF was edited.

Reviewing statements from an applicant? Our bank statement checker walks through the signs of an altered statement, and you can ask applicants to connect their bank instead of uploading files.

Chase statement FAQ

How far back can I get Chase statements online?
Up to 7 years, depending on the account type. Statements from before you signed up for online banking may not appear. For older statements, contact Chase by secure message or phone.
Can I get a Chase bank statement at a branch?
Yes. A banker can print a statement or a transaction history for you. Bring a photo ID. If you only need a recent statement, downloading it from chase.com or the app is faster.
Does Chase charge for statement copies?
Statements you download yourself from chase.com or the app are free. Fees for copies requested through a banker depend on your account terms, so check your deposit account agreement or ask when you request them.
Is a Chase statement printout from the app official?
The PDF you download is the same statement Chase mails to customers who get paper statements, so most landlords and lenders accept it. A screenshot of your balance or transaction list is usually not accepted.
How do I show a landlord my income with a Chase account?
You can send your last two or three statements, or connect your Chase account to an income report so the landlord gets a summary of your deposits instead of every transaction.
Will a landlord accept a Chase statement?
Usually, yes. Send the downloaded PDF rather than screenshots, and send only the months they ask for. Some landlords now prefer a direct bank connection because PDFs can be edited.
