How far back Bank of America statements go
Bank of America lets you view, print, and download up to 18 months of statements online at any time. It keeps copies of statements for up to 7 years.
For a statement older than 18 months, request a copy from the same Statements & Documents area. Bank of America says electronic copies arrive in 24 to 36 hours and stay available for 7 days, while mailed paper copies take 7 to 10 business days. Plan ahead if a lender needs statements from more than a year and a half ago.
Bank of America verification letter
A bank verification letter confirms that you hold an account with Bank of America and can include the open date and balance. If a formal, signed letter is required, visit a Bank of America financial center and ask a banker to prepare one. Calling ahead or booking an appointment saves time.
Before you book, ask whether a recent statement will do. A downloaded statement shows your name, the account, and the balance history, and it is accepted for most rental applications.
Bank of America proof of funds letter
A proof of funds letter from Bank of America is a verification letter that focuses on available balances, often for a home purchase or a large deposit. Request it at a financial center, and tell the banker which accounts to include and whether the recipient needs the balance as of a specific date.
Most recipients want proof of funds dated within the last 30 to 60 days, so ask for it shortly before you need it. Our free proof of funds letter generator can help you draft what the recipient is asking for.
Statement, letter, or income report: which to send
People asking for a Bank of America statement usually want proof of one of three things: that the account is yours, how much is in it, or how much you earn. Send the document that answers their actual question.
| Document | Where it comes from | What it shows | How fast | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bank statement | You download it | Every transaction and the balance for one month | Minutes | Most rental applications and loan files |
| Bank verification letter | A banker prepares it | That the account exists, its open date, sometimes the balance | Same day to a few business days | Visas, some leases, employers, vendors |
| Proof of funds letter | A banker prepares it | Available balance as of a date | Same day to a few business days | Home purchases, large deposits, investors |
| Bank-connected income report | Built from a read-only bank connection | Recurring deposits, estimated monthly income, balances | About 5 minutes | Showing income without sending every transaction |
Does Bank of America work with Plaid?
Yes. Bank of America connects to Plaid, the service most budgeting, lending, and income apps use to read bank data. Search for Bank of America when the bank picker opens, sign in, and choose the accounts to share. Your password goes to the bank, not to the app you are connecting.
If a connection stops working, it is usually because a security code timed out. Starting the connection again normally fixes it. You can see and remove every app you have connected through Plaid at my.plaid.com.
Sending a Bank of America statement to a landlord or lender
Send the PDF you downloaded, not screenshots, and send only the months they ask for. Two or three recent statements are typical for a rental application. Lenders often want two full months with every page, including blank ones.
A statement shows every purchase you made that month. If you would rather share a summary, you can connect your Bank of America account and create an income report from your bank deposits. It shows recurring deposits and an estimated monthly income, and it comes straight from the bank, so the person reading it does not have to wonder whether a PDF was edited.
Reviewing statements from an applicant? Our bank statement checker walks through the signs of an altered statement, and you can ask applicants to connect their bank instead of uploading files.
