How far back PNC statements go
PNC keeps online statements for up to 7 years on checking and savings accounts, auto loans, and unsecured installment loans. Credit cards go back up to 4 years, mortgages and home equity loans up to 5 years, and investment accounts up to 10 years.
For anything older, call PNC customer service or ask at a branch.
PNC bank verification letter
A PNC bank verification letter confirms that you have an account and can include the open date and balance. PNC prepares these at a branch or through customer service rather than as a download in Online Banking.
Bring a photo ID and tell the banker who the letter is for and what it needs to state. If the requester will accept statements instead, downloading the last two or three is much faster.
PNC proof of funds letter
For a home purchase or a large deposit, ask PNC for a letter that shows your available balance as of a specific date. Name the accounts you want included, such as a Virtual Wallet Spend and Reserve account.
Recipients usually want proof of funds from the last 30 to 60 days. Our free proof of funds letter generator can help you draft what they are asking for.
Statement, letter, or income report: which to send
People asking for a PNC bank statement usually want proof of one of three things: that the account is yours, how much is in it, or how much you earn. Send the document that answers their actual question.
| Document | Where it comes from | What it shows | How fast | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bank statement | You download it | Every transaction and the balance for one month | Minutes | Most rental applications and loan files |
| Bank verification letter | A banker prepares it | That the account exists, its open date, sometimes the balance | Same day to a few business days | Visas, some leases, employers, vendors |
| Proof of funds letter | A banker prepares it | Available balance as of a date | Same day to a few business days | Home purchases, large deposits, investors |
| Bank-connected income report | Built from a read-only bank connection | Recurring deposits, estimated monthly income, balances | About 5 minutes | Showing income without sending every transaction |
Does PNC work with Plaid?
Yes. PNC connects to Plaid, the service most budgeting, lending, and income apps use to read bank data. Pick PNC from the list, sign in, and choose which accounts to share. You may be sent to PNC’s own sign-in page to approve access.
If you use Virtual Wallet, connect the Spend account if that is where your pay is deposited. You can see and remove apps you have connected through Plaid at my.plaid.com.
Sending a PNC bank statement to a landlord or lender
Send the PDF you downloaded, not screenshots, and send only the months they ask for. Two or three recent statements are typical for a rental application. Lenders often want two full months with every page, including blank ones.
A statement shows every purchase you made that month. If you would rather share a summary, you can connect your PNC account and create an income report from your bank deposits. It shows recurring deposits and an estimated monthly income, and it comes straight from the bank, so the person reading it does not have to wonder whether a PDF was edited.
Reviewing statements from an applicant? Our bank statement checker walks through the signs of an altered statement, and you can ask applicants to connect their bank instead of uploading files.
