How far back Chime statements go
Chime generates statements monthly for Checking and Savings accounts, and by billing cycle for Credit Builder. You get an email when a new statement is ready.
Chime does not send paper statements. If you need a printed copy, download the PDF and print it yourself. Each statement shows the month’s ending balance in its own section, such as Checking Account Statement or Savings Account Statement.
Chime bank verification letter
Chime has no branches, so there is no banker who can sign a letter in person. The documents you can get yourself in the app are your monthly statements and a direct deposit form, which shows your name, account number, routing number, and Chime’s partner bank.
To get the direct deposit form, tap Move, then Set up direct deposit, then Get direct deposit form. Chime emails you the completed PDF, which also includes a voided check for employers that ask for one. If someone insists on a formal letter, ask Chime support in the app what they can provide, and ask the requester whether statements plus the direct deposit form will work instead.
Chime proof of funds letter
Because Chime does not issue signed letters at a branch, proof of funds from Chime usually means your most recent monthly statement showing the ending balance. Some recipients will also accept a bank-connected report that shows current balances.
Check what the recipient will accept before you rely on Chime alone for a large purchase. Many title companies and sellers expect a letter or statement dated within the last 30 to 60 days.
Statement, letter, or income report: which to send
People asking for a Chime bank statement usually want proof of one of three things: that the account is yours, how much is in it, or how much you earn. Send the document that answers their actual question.
| Document | Where it comes from | What it shows | How fast | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bank statement | You download it | Every transaction and the balance for one month | Minutes | Most rental applications and loan files |
| Bank verification letter | A banker prepares it | That the account exists, its open date, sometimes the balance | Same day to a few business days | Visas, some leases, employers, vendors |
| Proof of funds letter | A banker prepares it | Available balance as of a date | Same day to a few business days | Home purchases, large deposits, investors |
| Bank-connected income report | Built from a read-only bank connection | Recurring deposits, estimated monthly income, balances | About 5 minutes | Showing income without sending every transaction |
Does Chime work with Plaid?
Yes. Chime works with Plaid, the service most budgeting, lending, and income apps use to read bank data. Search for Chime by name in the bank list. You do not need to know which partner bank holds your account.
Sign in with the email and password you use for the Chime app, and approve any security code Chime sends. You can see and remove apps you have connected through Plaid at my.plaid.com.
Sending a Chime bank statement to a landlord or lender
Send the PDF you downloaded, not screenshots, and send only the months they ask for. Two or three recent statements are typical for a rental application. Lenders often want two full months with every page, including blank ones.
A statement shows every purchase you made that month. If you would rather share a summary, you can connect your Chime account and create an income report from your bank deposits. It shows recurring deposits and an estimated monthly income, and it comes straight from the bank, so the person reading it does not have to wonder whether a PDF was edited.
Reviewing statements from an applicant? Our bank statement checker walks through the signs of an altered statement, and you can ask applicants to connect their bank instead of uploading files.
Chime statement FAQ
- Is Chime a bank?
- No. Chime is a financial technology company. Its checking and savings accounts are held at partner banks, The Bancorp Bank, N.A. or Stride Bank, N.A., which is why your direct deposit form names one of them.
- Does Chime mail paper statements?
- No. Chime statements are electronic only. You can download the PDF from the app or chime.com and print it yourself.
- Where is the Chime direct deposit form?
- In the app, tap Move, then Set up direct deposit, then Get direct deposit form. Chime emails you a completed PDF that includes a voided check.
- Will a landlord accept a Chime statement?
- Most do. Send the downloaded PDF statements rather than screenshots. Because Chime is app-only, some landlords prefer a direct bank connection so they can see deposits without relying on a PDF.
- How do I prove income with Chime?
- Send your last two or three statements showing your direct deposits, or connect your Chime account to an income report that summarizes recurring deposits and estimated monthly income.
